Originally from Northern California, Joy has been living and working in New York City for 12 years. Her career began in 1994 when she began working as a hairstylist to support herself while attending college full time, and upon graduation from UC Berkeley in 1999, she decided to pursue what made her the happiest—hair, hair, hair.

In 2001 she moved to New York to pursue a career in editorial hairstyling, training at the renowned Bumble and Bumble. After numerous shows including Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Carlos Miele and Jeremy Scott, working with industry bigwigs including Guido, Laurent Phillipon, and Ward for publications including ‘Italian Vogue’ and ‘Harper’s Bazaar’, she decided to to redirect her focus back to a salon practice. In 2003 she landed a job in a boutique salon in an up-and-coming neighborhood known as Williamsburg, Brooklyn. In 2004, after working and building her clientele for a year and a half, she founded Deluxe Salon, still in it’s original pioneering location in Williamsburg.

She still loves what she does and hopes to someday add a chubby Pomeranian to the Deluxe staff.

Brittany has been coloring and cutting hair for 14 years. Her career has taken her from her hometown of Norfolk-VA, to the hot city of Atlanta-GA, several years in Miami Beach-FL, and finally New York-NY. She’s worked many facets of the beauty industry; Roles include creative director, educator, and session stylist.

Brittany is skilled with cuts, color, as well as hair and makeup styling. Her hair philosophy is that hair should be simple and easy-breezy. “While I admire super edgy hairstyles, I tend to be attracted to organic shapes and colors. I’m really into that loose, undone-cool, French-girl hair. I like painting different layers of color onto my canvas to give hair that sparkly-sun-kissed look. My haircuts are loose and not overly coiffed; The overall aesthetic should feel sexy, natural, and effortless”.

In her free time Brittany enjoys cooking extravagant meals (and eating them), listening to Murder-mystery podcasts, and riding her bike through Prospect Park with her boyfriend and her beloved dogs Roxie, Biscuit, and Fubsy.
